The Royal Tour of New Zealand

Day 3 - Queenstown
Overnight: TheDairy, Private Luxury Hotel

Nestled on the shores of Lake Wakatipu and set at the base of the magnificent Remarkables, Queenstown has something to offer everyone all year round.

Action-packed adventures include jet boating, bungy jumping and river rafting. Leisure seekers may opt for a bit of trout fishing, lake cruising, picturesque walks or wine tasting in the Otago wine-growing district.
This charming resort town will be your base the next few days as you explore the surrounding area and nearby Fiordland.

Highly recommended is a trip to Milford Sound by helicopter with a Glacier Landing. Mitre Peak beckons as the helicopter lifts off on a journey to the majestic Milford Sound. Your excursion includes landing on one of the incredible glaciers located in the main divide of New Zealand's spectacular Southern Alps. The views of the glaciers will astound you, with the many crevasses, and blue ice falls. The flight ends with a sweep over the stunning Southern Lakes before returning to Queenstown.

Shotover Jet (Morning)
Shotover Jet Fast spectacular action on the world's most exhilarating jet boat ride as you roar through the narrow craggy canyons on the Shotover River.

Wind-up the morning with a hot shower and steaming sauna at the local lodge before heading back to Queenstown.

Skipper Canyon In the afternoon you might try a Nomad Safari's 4-Wheel Drive (*) to Skipper's Canyon Safari. Wind your way around sheer cliffs towering above the Shotover River as your guide takes you into Skipper's Canyon. The Nomad Safaris 4 WD Safari transports you on a road hand carved in the mid 1800's during one of the richest gold strikes in the world. The ride is an adventure in itself... the extreme off road experience!

Routeburn Encounter
For those interested in a day hike we would suggest the Routeburn Encounter (*).
Depart Queenstown early in the morning, heading to Fiordland and the Routeburn Track, one of the most popular hiking tracks in the country. The Routeburn Track is in the same National Park as the Hollyford Track, visited by the Prime Minister during the filming of "The Royal Tour". Surrounded by impressive mountain scenery, the track takes you through the pastoral beech forest, out to the flats, where you will enjoy a leisurely lunch. For the more adventurous a climb to the Routeburn Waterfalls presents unspoiled views of the flats and Routeburn Gorge. The return to Queenstown is a scenic ride through Mount Aspiring National Park and high country farmland.
Ask us about the 3 Day Hollyford Track extension.
